Once you’ve decided to hire a vehicle shipping company, you’ll need to make sure that your vehicle is well prepared for transport. Here are three things you need to do to make sure that your vehicle is set to go for shipping:

Remove all personal belongings
Before any type of vehicle shipping, you should remove all of your personal belongings. Sine car shipping rates are mostly dependent on the weight of the vehicle and the distance it will be shipped, you’ll want to remove as much extra weight as possible. Removing all personal items also ensures that nothing inside the vehicle will get damaged in transit.

Inspect for any damages
Another thing you should do to prepare for vehicle shipping is to inspect it for damage. You should make note of any damage for comparison purposes to make sure that you will be able to identify any damage that was incurred during transport. If your vehicle does get damaged, rest assured that car shipping companies have to have two types of insurance and many of them will allow you to purchase additional insurance as well.

Check fluids and for leaks
Some vehicle shipping companies will require you to have certain fluid levels for auto transport, so you should check their guidelines and adjust the fluids accordingly. Some vehicles need to be drained of certain fluids anyway (like boats) and this should be done before shipping as well. You also need to make sure that the fluids that are in the vehicle do not leak, as they may leak onto and damage other vehicles or equipment.
