Buying your first motorcycle can be trickier than you’d think, but in all actuality it doesn’t have to be. Here are a few tips to help demystify the process.

Do Your Homework.

It’s a good idea to figure out which bike you’d want to buy before you ever set foot into a motorcycle dealership. Check out what’s out there, read reviews, and do some price comparison shopping. After all, nothing can help you dodge sales tactics more than being well-informed.

Keep Your Cards Close.

Once you’ve figured out which bike you want and know a bit about it, you’re ready to go to the motorcycle dealer. However, you don’t want to tell the sales rep that that’s the bike you want. Instead, it’s better to be coy. For example, say you were interested in a Victory motorcycle. Go to one of your area’s Triumph Victory motorcycle dealers, and test ride a few Victory bikes that you’re not all that interested in. Once you’ve got the motorcycle dealer primed to give you some discounts, then you should casually express interest in the bike you really want.

Wait Until the End of the Year If You Can.

If at all possible, it’s best to wait until the end of the year when the season is almost over to go to a motorcycle dealership. The seller will be more likely to give you discounts and rebates, as it’ll help them clear out the old stock to make room for the new bikes coming in.

Buying your first motorcycle can definitely be a little tricky, but it doesn’t have to be all that difficult if you know what you’re doing. If you have any questions about getting the best deal from a motorcycle dealer, feel free to ask in the comments. Get more here.
